So, an ex girlfriend hit me up on facebook today to remind me about doing this list. You see, she has recently transplanted to North Carolina, and is surrounded by the greatest of great shows. I still have Chicago and Minneapolis, but every tour hits the Carolinas.
These albums are my favorite. Not the best, but my favorite. And I think it is more than ten. But, its a list, and its almost the new year. So, here we go.
1. Rise Against- Endgame
1. The Black Keys – El Camino
Clearly ties are not allowed, but these two bands are such favorites.
2. Wild Flag – Wild Flag. I spent a lot of time like some sort of fan boy chasing this band around the country. I blame Hannifin completely for this. I had forgotten about Sleater-Kinney, then she had to bring it up again. And now the addiction is back.
3. PJ Harvey – Let England Shake. Thank god she came back. Thank god.
4. Beyonce – 4. It is just that good. Period.
5. Le Butcherettes- Sin Sin Sin. Iggy chose them to open for him, I saw them in LA not so long ago, and they made a hell of a record.
6. Butch Walker and The Black Widows – The Spade. I do not know man, Butch is a lot better than you.
7. The Roots – undun. Its the Roots.
8. Ben Nichols – The Last Pale light in the West. I do not know if this came out in 2011, but I got to it in 2011. Best lyrics in the world.
9. TV on the Radio – Nine Types of Light.
10. Jay-Z and Kanye- Watch the Throne. Otis might be song of the year, but two guys as good as anyone has ever been on top of their game.
11.TUnE-YArDS- whokill. Just got this tonight. Shocking in its awesomeness.
The Disappointment of the Year
Social Distortion – Hard Times, and Nursery Rhymes. This is my favorite working live band, to release something this shitty is unbelieveable. What a friggin disappointment.
So, now I need to do my favorite live shows list too. But, you gotta wait.
